In the overall story of the album "No Lullaby" the second song “Promise” is about facing up to a situation and knowing that you have to see it for what it really is. This song is acknowledging that the situation is no longer endurable and must change now. It is the pivotal moment when one ceases to be a victim and takes control of their own fate. The turning of the tide. It is the lowest point of the cycle where the person has nothing left to loose and therefore decide to fight. It's the life or death moment where desperation becomes strength and empowerment takes place. This is the title track of the album. |
